If you want to reach Dresden by air there are three airports possible:
1. Dresden Klotzsche Airport is the closest, with some direct international connections.
- Take the S-Bahn (found in the lower level of the terminal) to the railway station "Dresden Mitte" (it takes about 18 min.);
- Walk down Könneritzstrasse in the direction of Marienbrücke bridge, turn right onto Devrientstrasse, the first left turn onto Ostra Ufer.
2. Leipzig Airport (Leipzig / Halle or Leipzig / Altenberg) is about one hour by train/car, but it does not have many international connections.
- Take the train from the airport to Leipzig central Station, change to a direct train to Dresden. Depending on the train, it will take one hour or more to Dresden.
3. Berlin Schönefeld (SFX) or Berlin Tegel (TXL) Aiport.
Berlin Schönefeld has many connections to European cities by inexpensive airlines such as Easy Jet, Air Berlin etc.
From SXF take 'Airport Express' (Regional trains No. RE14 or RE7) to the main railway station (“Hauptbahnhof”).
Berlin Tegel has all the major airlines. From TXL take the bus labeled TXL to the main railway station (Hauptbahnhof), from which trains to Dresden depart every 2 hours.
You can find more information about the airports here. For schedules and advance booking of train connections see here.
Please note: A Limousine Transfer Service from German Transfer is possible from both Berlin-Schönefeld and Berlin Tegel. Click here for this service.
You need to pre-register for the Limousine Service yourself. The minimum price is 44.00 EUR per ride (roundtrip from Berlin to Dresden is 73.00 EUR). The price is the same if you depart from Schönefeld or Tegel.
